The majority of sales are made during exhibitions through the relevant gallery. Private sales are also welcomed through direct contact with David: firstname.lastname@example.org. The artist keeps a stock of available pieces not tied to active exhibitions. Commissioning work is also a popular option.
Below, browse through a selection of artworks that take the form of studies and location sketches, but also pieces from past series' and works of a one-off or experimental nature. Each of these works carry the gift of safe, clean water for one person – for life – through the incredible work of charity:water. Nobody on earth should die from dirty water. 663 million people in the world live without clean water – that’s nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide.
This piece was created as an initial study – in Venice – whilst work was underway for the series Pelàda.
Pelàda is a collection of works examining isolated details of "the sinking city" – this work is one of the first attempts at capturing the haphazard, patchwork charm of Venetian façades. At A5 in size, this piece was painted in aqua-oil on a small wooden ompositor's case.
"David Cass conjoins the randomness of the snapshot with the picturesque allure of paint and paper textures, the blankness of surface with the evocativeness of names and numbers, and the stillness of nature morte with the promise of a Venice that might again become vibrant" — Patricia Emison
Paintings, research, texts and archival imagery: the Florence flood of 1966.
Featuring texts from: Robert Clark, Patricia Emison, David Hewson, Candia McWilliam & the final printed text of art historian Giles Waterfield. The book also features first-hand accounts from Mud Angels who travelled to Florence to help clean and salvage.
The book was started in mid 2014, designed in 2015, and finally printed and launched in 2016 & 2017 in The Fruitmarket Gallery (Edinburgh), and the British Institute (Florence), to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the flood. As this is a book and not as fragile as other items on this eStore – postage is free. Use offer code 1966 at the checkout.
Wherever Cass travels, he makes sure to spend as much time at the coast as possible. Here are a few seascape examples. Created in Croatia, France, Italy, Spain. These sketches are unframed and are not created for the purpose of exhibition: their price reflects that. Each gives clean and safe water for one person, through the work of the incredible charity: water. In the past these postcards have also carried donations to the Marine Conservation Society.
